The village of Saint-Georges-sur-Cher is ideally located on the banks of the Cher river, close to major tourist sites such as the Château de Chenonceau and the ZooParc de Beauval. Moreover, it offers hikers beautiful walks in the vineyards.
In the village, the starting and finishing point of the tour, you can visit the church of Saint-Georges, built in the 12th century and rebuilt in the 16th century. Your route will take you very quickly through the vineyard landscapes which make the fame of the commune. This wine-growing tradition is very old and goes back to the Middle Ages. Today, the surface of vines represents about 450 ha and the new AOC "Touraine-Chenonceaux" is the pride of the commune. Along the river "La Senelles" you will be able to see old milling mills that worked until the 1914-1918 war: the Mesnil mill, probably built on the remains of a Roman construction, and the very beautiful Porteau mill. You will return to the village through the vineyards.
