The river le Bès is classified in the first category, with the exception of a length of 400 m, downstream of the hydroelectric power station of Le Vergne, at its mouth in the Grandvals reservoir. It is the only portion of river classified as second category in Lozère. The Bès shelters a beautiful population of fario trout, with a dark coat, very combative. A good proportion of fish reach an average size of 30 cm. A few beautiful specimens are fished each year with minnows or dry flies, during the big fly hatchings in May (end of June). All species of white-water cyprinids, including minnows and gudgeons, are present in quantity. Presence of pike in the calm and deeper parts of the river.
