Outdoor visit
A former pink sandstone farmhouse built in 1791. It was home to several generations of Mennonites, including the family of Nicolas Augsburger, but bears the name of one of the most remarkable figures: Jacob Kupferschmitt. The latter is famous for having obtained from the revolutionary authorities, in 1793, an exemption from armed service for his co-religionists, thus prefiguring conscientious objection Visible from the outside only, private property.
