A few steps away from the abbey of Mouzon, there is a former abbey of Benedictine monks. Founded in 971 by the archbishop of Reims, it is composed of three buildings: - a main building (now a retirement home), - a dovecote (Tourist Office), - outbuildings (Felt Museum) Until 1671, the town walls and a moat surrounded it. Until 1789, the monks lived off the products of the farmland (donated by the archbishop), the forest, the rivers, the mills and the aromatic plants cultivated in the abbey garden. After 1789, the establishment was transformed into a civil hospice and the garden was preserved. In the course of time, it was transformed into a pleasure garden, maintained by the gardener of the old people's home.
