The Montreuil-aux-Lions British Military Cemetery contains the bodies of one hundred and seventy-one soldiers killed mainly in September 1914, at the time of the retreat and during the Battle of the Marne that followed.

This cemetery contains the bodies of 171 British soldiers, the majority of whom could not be identified. Built after the armistice, the bodies of the battlefields of the southern Aisne were gathered here. Soldiers killed mainly in September 1914: from the 1st to the 13th of that tragic month, these men had passed through the southern Aisne and Seine-et-Marne before "going up", on the trail of the Battle of the Marne, to the Chemin des Dames.
