This memorial, today managed by the Souvenir Français, is the high place of the memory of the French participation in the Battle of the Somme. The cemetery that surrounds it is the largest French necropolis of the Somme. It testifies to the violence of the fighting during the last three months of the offensive (September-November 1916).
