Eglise Saint-Pierre

France > Hauts-de-France > Aisne > 02200 > Soissons > rue Saint-Martin

The church of Saint-Pierre is one of the vestiges of the former abbey of Notre-Dame against which it was built. It is said to have been the place of worship reserved for men in an abbey mainly made up of women. This small church now serves as a mausoleum for the victims of the deportations during the Second World War, and contains a funerary urn with ashes taken from Auschwitz. St. Peter's is one of the symbols of the friendship that now links the city of Soissons with two German cities.
