Almost completely isolated following the destructions of the Revolution and the First World War, the cathedral was part of a group of buildings in the Middle Ages that included the episcopal and canonical quarters. Note, in front of the south arm of the transept, the painting by Rubens: the Adoration of the Shepherds.
Almost completely isolated following the destruction of the Revolution in the First World War, the cathedral was in the Middle Ages part of a complex of episcopal and canonical districts. Contemporary of Notre Dame-de-Chartres, one can better understand the passage from the first Gothic architecture to the art of the 13th century. Of note, facing the remarkable south arm of the transept, is the painting by Rubens: the Adoration of the Shepherds.
