This wide street, opened by the Dukes of Lorraine, overlooked the lands of our successive dukes. A long building housed the 12 canons of the collegiate church, demolished and sold during the Revolution. At the entrance of the bridge, the monumental gate of Strasbourg was destroyed by the Americans on September 25, 1944: it was too narrow for their machines!
