At the end of the war of 1870, Chambrey was situated on the French-German border. To show its power to visitors coming from Nancy, Kaiser Wilhelm I had the impressive imperial railway station built there, from where your journey begins. This tour then takes you along the old Route de France, which was ceded to the king in 1661 by the Treaty of Vincennes. It is still called the Queen's Route, which dates back to the sumptuous journey of Marie Leszczinska who crossed Lorraine to join her husband, the young king Louis XV, in Fontainebleau.
