It was the discovery of a hot spring at the beginning of the 20th century that motivated the opening of the first health spa in Nancy. In 1909, visitors to the International Exhibition of Eastern France discovered an artesian borehole which produced a hot spring 800 meters deep. Louis Lanternier, a renowned architect and city councillor, planned to turn it into a large-scale spa. After the Exhibition, a stone rotunda decorated with mosaics was erected on the site of the spring. In its center, an elegant fountain let the water flow, whose benefits continue to delight the people of Nancy. As early as July 1911, the National Academy of Medicine authorized the use of Nancy Thermal water, which was used in particular to treat rheumatism and digestive system disorders. In 1913, the thermal establishment was inaugurated. It had the largest mineral water pool in the world. But the Great War stopped the ambitions of Louis Lanternier. The thermal baths were listed as a historical monument in 2020. More than 100 years later, the architects have completed Louis Lanternier's project and juxtaposed the historical thermal baths building with a contemporary structure that extends the original design to create the Nancy Thermal complex. This future establishment will offer a multiple and complete range of services on the same site. It will thus be possible to practice a wide variety of activities and to benefit from a wide range of services: thermal, sports, recreational, well-being and health. It will open in spring 2023: ? April 1, 2023: opening to the public of the Espace Aquasport. ? April 15, 2023: opening of the Thermal Spa and the hotel residence. ? May 15, 2023: opening of the thermal cure center
