MAISON BERGERET - ART NOUVEAU

France > Grand Est > Meurthe-et-Moselle > 54000 > Nancy > 24 Rue Lionnois

The printer Albert Bergeret, known for the production of illustrated postcards, commissioned the architect Lucien Weissemburger to build his family home near his now defunct printing works. The greatest artists of the Ecole de Nancy worked together to create a highly accomplished example of Ecole de Nancy architecture: Louis Majorelle for the ironwork, Eugène Vallin for the woodwork, Jacques Gruber and Joseph Janin for the stained glass windows, Victor Prouvé for the immense canvas painted on the ceiling of the hall, in keeping with the concept of total art Visible only from the outside.
