CHAPELLE SAINT-GENGOULF

France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57690 > Zimming > Rue Saint-Gengoulf

The chapel is located on the site of the vanished village of Betting. It was wiped off the map during the Thirty Years War, and only the 14th century chapel remains, as well as the oak tree and the miraculous spring nearby. According to the legend, Saint Gengoulf, during a campaign, would have planted his stick in the ground and made a spring gush forth. This spring is only a few metres from the chapel, which was restored in 1938.
