The Premonstratensian Abbey of Salival was founded by Mathilde de Salm in the 12th century on the site of a pilgrimage chapel dedicated to Saint Fiacre. Devastated during the wars of religion in the 16th century, it was rebuilt and then requisitioned as a national asset during the French Revolution. Some of its furniture can be seen today in the parish church of Saint-Marien de Vic sur Seille (stalls, statues, pulpit for preaching) as well as in the church of the Cordeliers de Nancy. Only the monks' dwelling, which is private property, remains today.
