France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57560 > Saint-Quirin > Col de la Côte de l'Engin

The Sarre, a right-hand tributary of the Moselle, rises in the Vosges at the foot of the Donon at an altitude of 785 m. The 246-kilometer-long river flows through the French towns of Sarrebourg, Sarre-Union, Sarralbe and Sarreguemines, and through the German towns of Saarbrücken, Völklingen, Sarrelouis, Merzig and Saarburg. A sign indicates the source of the Red Saar inside the forest, about 150 m from the road leading to the Donon. The Saar Rouge and Saar Blanche join at Hermelange.
