Coenen Dominique

France > Centre-Val de Loire > Cher > 18250 > Humbligny > La Tuilerie

Since her studies at the academy of fine arts of Châtelet and then at the workshops of applied arts of Louvain-La-Neuve in Belgium, Dominique Coenen privileges the human figure. The clay keeps the traces of a spontaneous, impulsive shaping, which transcribes emotions and feelings.

Worked in the mass or in the colombins, it accepts the tears and the vigor of the modelling. It is impregnated with oxides in order to nuance its color during firing in an electric kiln or in wood. The slender figures, with simplified but expressive silhouettes and faces, are united by their bodies made of the same material. In pairs or in groups, they cut out the internal space of the work and sketch the beginning of a story.
