JOURNÉES EUROPÉENNES DU PATRIMOINE - ÉGLISE SAINT-GERMAIN A DAUMERAY

Date:

Come and visit the Saint-Germain Church

Since 1973, the hamlet of St Germain has been listed in the inventory of picturesque sites, and is home to a number of authentic 15th to 18th century residences, including the logis de Bellefontaine to the north-west of the church choir. Nothing seems to have changed in this village since the completion of the church nave before the French Revolution. Daumeray?s two parishes came under the barony of Saint-Germain: the parish of Saint-Martin on the territory of the main town, and the parish of Saint-Germain on the outskirts, now known as the hamlet of Saint-Germain. Around 1040, knight Rainard donated the Daumeray church to the Marmoutier abbey, which established a priory there. The priory, in commendation in the 16th century, depended on the barony, which at that time belonged to François de Rohan, bishop of Angers. Free admission.
