Clairmont Abbey opens its doors during the school vacations!
Founded in 1152 by Bernard de Clairvaux in a landscape of woods and ponds, Clairmont Abbey is a very pure model of cistercian settlement. From the 12th to the 15th century, Clairmont Abbey was the burial place of the Lords of Laval. It retains many of its original buildings, which have been classified as Historic Monuments: the impressively large abbey church, the storeroom and refectory for the lay brothers, and the porter?s house.
