THE TARN WATER RACE IS BACK IN 2024! The fifth edition of the "Tawara" (Tarn Water Race) will take place on June 8 and 9, 2024, in the majestic Gorges du Tarn. Okay, but what is the "Tawara"? It's a canoe, kayak and stand-up paddle competition open to all. It's a real adventure for families and friends! So why not join us? These time-trial races bring together more than 200 athletes from France, Europe and even across the Atlantic. From beginners to multiple world champions, between Lozère and Aveyron, these paddling enthusiasts will enjoy, in their own way, the expanse of the Gorges du Tarn. Let's talk about the landscape: the Tarn is a free-flowing river that has carved out exceptional gorges, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the figurehead of the Cévennes National Park. But above all, it's an immense playground for extreme sports and nature enthusiasts. For 2 days, 18 world champions will cross their paddles to tame the Tarn. No less than 66 km will be paddled by the most courageous! Stand-Up Paddle magazine Total Sup ranks this race among the Top 10 "races to do at least once in your life". Some of the biggest names in the world of water sports were on hand to mark the event: Shara Dubeau, the Canadian from Toronto, who excels in the Stand-Up Paddle discipline, won several titles in the first two editions. Ingrid Ulrich, recently voted Garda?s Sportswoman of the Year, who kayaked in Greenland and made her mark on the discipline with the Corsica-continent paddle crossing. Or Damien and Gaétan Guyonnet. The latter finished second in the Dordogne intégrale, Europe?s longest kayak race, covering 350 km in three days. In all, 18 world champion titles have sailed the Tarn. We're waiting for you.
