Enjoy a family outing to the Col du Haut-Jacques arboretum and discover the different plant species on a shady botanical trail. The trail is located at the top of the pass, where you can park in a large parking lot. Take the tarmac road to the left of the war memorial and continue along this path for about 10 minutes. At the intersection with the forest track on your left, continue straight ahead. Along the way, you'll see signs for the arboretum, which will guide your steps along the loop of the botanical trail. This remarkable site is located at an altitude of 600 metres. The arboretum is made up of a plantation of Nordmann fir trees that was created in the aftermath of the Second World War. Over the decades, exotic American conifers and a collection of deciduous trees have been added. After the walk, enjoy a well-deserved break on the picnic tables provided. And to extend your stroll, the town of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges (less than 12 km away) has plenty of surprises in store for you! Have fun in the Parc Simone Veil, in the heart of the town center. Then stop by the Tourist Office, where you'll find a range of fun tours to help you learn more about America's birthplace! And don't forget to warm up your brains - there might just be a little present waiting for you on your return!
