ÉCLUSE DE BONNE

? HISTORY ? The old chaussée de Bonne supported a flour mill on the right bank, documented in 1536. After 1537, it was equipped with a marinière gate. Work to improve navigation on the Mayenne in the 19th century led to its demolition. It was replaced by a lock dam, built a few meters downstream to the plans of the Ponts et Chaussées engineer Du Jardin. The work, supervised by another ordinary engineer, Lahougue, was carried out by Joinville-le-Pont contractors Gabriel Robineau and Edme Léger, chosen in a tender held on December 21, 1867. Final acceptance took place on March 31, 1872. The mill, also destroyed, was rebuilt on the left bank. The lockhouse was enlarged at the end of the 20th century.
