Date:

As part of the Thélème cultural season, culture in the heart of nature at Château des Bretonnières in Erbrée. CREATION. A poetic and musical fiction, freely inspired by the story of the shipwreck of the Prince de Conty. An immersive, headphone-listening experience in the world of the Garden Partie trio. Fiction sous - marine: Freely inspired by the sinking of the ship Prince de Conty in the 18th century and the discovery of its wreck two centuries later, this poetic and musical fiction created and performed by the Garden Partie trio and Johan Caballé invites the audience to plunge into an adventure on the sea and in its depths, to encounter a fabulous story that might have been forgotten had a treasure not resurfaced. The voice weaves a tale between two eras, on the deck of a merchant ship and under the sea, where historical figures and imaginary ghosts meet. The music, composed for clavichord, analog keyboards and drums, elegantly and dreamily portrays history and its frontiers, both real and imagined. The story: In 1745, the East India Company merchant ship Prince de Conty leaves the port of Lorient and sets sail for China. Returning after 20 months at sea, bringing back all manner of riches from China and Brazil - silk, gold, porcelain, coffee and cocoa - the ship was caught in a storm off Belle-Île in Locmaria, and sank. Of the 229 crew members, only a few escape alive. The wreck was forgotten for over two centuries, but in 1974 it was found by a diver. The discovery of the first gold ingot - from the Qing dynasty - led to the looting of the wreck the following year. It was subsequently closed to the public for archaeological excavations. These led to the discovery of porcelain and gold ingots, but were interrupted by a storm that buried the wreck once again. The story could have ended there, but in 2018, gold ingots bearing the same hallmark as those of the Prince de Conty were offered for sale at an auction in California. The case is currently before the French courts. A fascinating story of treasure resurfacing. HEADPHONES LISTENING SYSTEM: The piece is performed live, but with a sound mix specifically designed for more immersive, intimate headphones listening. Each spectator then perceives this adventure and the music that accompanies it as being addressed to them personally, and the poetic, dreamlike experience is reinforced. > Online ticketing at theleme-arts.com > Bar & gourmet plates from 7pm > Concert starts at 8:30pm > Duration: 1 hour.
