ÉGLISE SAINTE-MARIE

The church of Sainte-Marie de Berc is built entirely of granite stone. Its particularity lies in its bell tower, dated 1875. A red Virgin dominates the portal in a niche with light-coloured plaster walls. In front of the church stands a monumental cross dated 1816 with a Christ on the cross.

The church of Sainte-Marie de Berc is built with large granite stones. The difference in construction between the bell tower, which has a regular structure, and the rest of the building, which has a cross-shaped structure, can be seen. The entrance is through a portal to the south surmounted by the bell tower-arrow erected in 1875 as indicated by the date engraved in the stone. A red Virgin in majesty dominates the portal in a niche with light-coloured plaster walls Inside, the church has a single nave with a pointed arch and two projecting side chapels. Only the columns and the arches of the side chapels' vaults, which are made of granite, stand out from the light plastered walls. Both chapels contain altarpieces depicting Mary to the south and Christ to the north On the pavement in front of the church, there is a beautiful monolithic granite roadside cross. A Christ on the cross is depicted on it. On the shaft is engraved the year 1816 in a cartouche.
