Near Marvejols, this route winds its way between the "Trucs", rocky eminences ? du Midi and de Grèzes, and the Montagne Fendue, so named because it appears to be split in two down the middle. In proto-historic times, an oppidum was located on the Truc de Grèzes. The ruins of a castle in the village are a reminder that Grèzes was the seat of the Viscounty of Gévaudan in the Middle Ages.
