Le Ferrier de la Garenne

Signposted walk N°4. Visit the Ferrier de Tannerre-en-Puisaye, one of the largest in France, dating back to Gallic times.

The hike starts from the town hall parking lot. (D/A) From the town hall courtyard, head towards the village, with the church in view. After crossing the bridge over the Branlin, turn right into the Grande Rue (in the direction of traffic). With the church on your left, come to a side street (Rue Carreau). Turn left and continue along this street until, after N°16, you come to the path on your right. Pass under a portico and walk between gardens and a hedge on the left. You'll come to a fork in the road. (1) Take the left-hand path and pass the rails, which are stored on the right-hand side of the path. At the next junction, leave the side paths and continue along the well-marked route. (2) Take the path on the right (picnic area on the right). This leads to a transverse path. (3) Turn left. Pass the well. At the next intersection, turn left. On your right, you'll see the old rails and waggons, vestiges of the 20th century. At the next junction, turn right, leaving the start on the right. Pass a clearing and come to a crossroads with 3 paths. (4) Make a slight right-left turn and, before the clearing where a forge and a replica of a low furnace have been installed, take the first path on the left. Leave a path on the left to reach the crossroads you came to on the outward journey. (3) Turn left, missing a start on the right, to reach the crossroads at the entrance to Le Ferrier. (1) Turn left. Return to the path taken on the outward journey and enter Rue Carreau. Go down this street and, in front of the church gate, turn right. Head back towards the bridge and reach the start parking lot (D/A).
