The ruins of the Chapelle Saint-Marcet, known as the "leper wall", date back to the 12th century. Originally a lazaretto, now a hospital for the contagious, this parish church had been welcoming the city?s sick and destitute since the end of the 12th century. Franciscan monks cared for them until the 18th century.
