Exhibition-event: CLAUDE HENRI SCHMITT ? Painting music The Sound Barn The CHS exhibition: Following the retrospective of the painter Claude Henri Schmitt (1935-2021) at the Palais des Congrès de Vittel in 2023, this summer the Grange à sons in Mirecourt is hosting an exhibition by the Mirecourt artist on the theme of music. Whether figurative or abstract, CHS?s works often make reference to music: figures of musicians, still lifes with musical instruments, titles of paintings borrowed from composers, musical gods or songs from the Edda, music is omnipresent in CHS?s art. Music is the common thread running through the exhibition, while at the same time presenting a highly varied panorama of the painter?s work. A treat for CHS afficionados, but also for neophytes, visitors and the curious of all kinds who wish to discover a profoundly original artistic proposal in the very place where it was born. The CHS exhibition is accompanied by artistic animations that echo the painter?s work. Conceived as an extension of the work, they reflect the painter?s joyful, poetic and facetious imagination, and bring the CHS spirit to life. Drawing on the diverse artistic talents of its members, the Claude Henri Schmitt Association offers a rich program of theatrical, musical and poetic performances, each illuminating the work in its own way. Puppet theater, musical interludes, mock lectures, poetic readings and musical improvisations are offered to visitors throughout the exhibition.
