LE CHÂTEAU DES FORGES

France > Pays de la Loire > Maine-et-Loire > 49500 > Segré-en-Anjou Bleu > Noyant-la-Gravoyère #### Parc Saint-Blaise

In the heart of a former fief and seigneury in Anjou Bleu, learn about archaeology and relive the medieval era through various reconstructions at the Château des Forges de Noyant-la-Gravoyère.

A former fief and seigneury, Château des Forges must have looked more like a fortified house than a castle. Although the exact date of its construction is unclear, it may well have been a stopover for the Knights Templar on their way down from Laval to Santiago de Compostela. The discovery of shards of partridge-eye pottery would suggest as much. Destroyed around 1620, the ruins have been gradually emerging since 1993. Today, its final shape is practically defined. The association Les Amis du Château, in charge of maintaining and safeguarding the site, welcomes you all year round by reservation: guided tours of the site, introduction to archaeology, medieval combat demonstrations, fouées meals... www.chateaudesforges.com
