You probably know the Château de Brézé for its architecture, its deep moat and its history but do you know its famous wines? Then go and discover the Château de Brézé vineyard and its philosophy.

Wine production at Château de Brézé dates back to the 15th century. The grapes were then pressed in the famous press room and matured in the barrel room, in the underground cellars of the Château, until 1976! The old troglodytic presses testify to the ancestral production of the wines of the domain which were so appreciated by King René d'Anjou and the great poet Joachim de Bellay who dedicated these few verses: "Its Nectar seasons us, Nectar gives it to us, My sweet Brézéen vineyard... " The white wines of Brézé were then the reputation of this vineyard and knew thereafter the favors of the kings of the greatest European courts. The current owners of Château de Brézé, Karine and Jean de Colbert, perpetuate this historical wine tradition and produce today wines of the Saumur and Saumur Champigny appellation, for the greatest pleasure of the lovers of good Anjou wines. It is in this place full of history, in the heart of the Saumur region, that the Château de Brézé wine estate elaborates its wines. The vineyard of the Château covers about 5 ha, planted with Chenin for the white wines and Cabernet Franc for the red wines. It produces Saumur Rosé, Saumur White, Saumur Champigny and Crémant de Loire. The viticultural and vinicultural techniques of the Château are in line with a sustainable approach and respect for the environment. The soils are worked to a shallow depth so as not to alter the soil horizons. No chemical weeding is used. Depending on the terroir, grassing can be done on one row out of two or on the entire plot. They seek to maintain biodiversity in their vineyard, a gain in balance and health of the plant. This philosophy allows them to get the best out of their vines, by allowing them to evolve in a balanced and healthy ecosystem. "With good grapes, we make good wine!" This philosophy is also found in the cellar, where he seeks to keep all the authenticity of our terroirs. He thus limits their interventions in the cellar, in order to preserve the integrity of their grapes and wines. Numerous events and wine tourism activities will be offered throughout the year.
