Le train historique de Toulouse : de Cahors à Souillac

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days, the historic Toulouse train will run to Souillac on the Toulouse - Limoges - Orléans - Paris line, famous for its red "Le Capitole" train. From the pink city, you'll cross the Tarn at Montauban, the Aveyron at Albias and then the Lot at Cahors, before arriving at the Souillac terminus station, where you'll be greeted by a host of railway viaducts. On arrival, you will be taken by coach to either Sarlat-la-Canéda or Les Eyzies-de-Tayac. In Sarlat, you can wander the streets of the capital of the Périgord Noir at your leisure. This magnificent medieval city boasts an exceptional number of listed buildings, making it Europe?s 1st city in terms of heritage. In Les Eyzies-de-Tayac, if you have chosen the restaurant option, you can enjoy a regional menu on the terrace or in a real Troglodyte room! Otherwise, you can bring your own picnic or choose a restaurant of your choice. After lunch, you'll take the coach to the National Prehistory Museum. Situated close to the main cave art sanctuaries listed by UNESCO as World Heritage sites, this century-old museum houses exceptional collections spanning over 400 millennia of human history. Your coach will then take you to the Gouffre de Proumeyssac. Known as the "Crystal Cathedral", Proumeyssac is the largest cave in Périgord. Through a tunnel, you'll enter the immense underground vault, its walls adorned with a multitude of crystallizations of exceptional density and beauty. The new illumination, supported by musical accompaniment, completes the originality of this site. At the end of the day, the coaches will take you back to Souillac station (timetables will be given on board), where your historic train will be waiting to take you back to your departure station in good spirits! Stations served: Toulouse-Matabiau, Castelnau d?Estrétefonds, Montauban, Caussade, Cahors and Souillac. Departure from Toulouse at 8:32 a.m. sharp, return at 10:36 p.m.
