BALADE RANDOLAND ETIVAL-CLAIREFONTAINE

Randoland offers fun walks for young and old to discover our region with the whole family! Étival-Clairefontaine lies on the banks of the Meurthe, where it meets the Rabodeau and Valdange rivers. There are four outstanding mountain and forest formations in the vicinity: the nearby Côte de Repy to the north, culminating in the Roche du Coucou (591 m), the Jumeaux behind Nompatelize to the south and, on the other bank of the Meurthe, the Grand Fays above Saint-Blaise and the Massif de la Haute-Pierre in Moyenmoutier. The state forest of Ban d?Étival and the communal forest extend westwards, on either side of the Vieux Prés stream, as far as Chipotte. Today, Camille and Manon had a rather special workshop: they decided to make their own recycled paper. After soaking small pieces of newspaper in warm water overnight, they form a paste. They spread it out on a sieve and covered it with a cloth on each side. Using a tapping sponge and a pressing roller, and repeating this operation several times, as much water as possible is removed. Finally, they leave to dry. That's it, their first sheet is ready. But why this strange idea? To honor the first paper mill created in Étival in 1512 by a certain abbot.
