CIRCUIT DE LA VILLA

France > Grand Est > Moselle > 57905 > Sarreinsming

An information panel on the circuit is set up at the start of the hike. Follow the yellow ring signs in both directions to find your way. Family-friendly, this 3.7 km circuit takes place for the most part in the cool shade of the forest. Halfway along, at the edge of the wood, the ruins of the ancient Gallo-Roman villa are revealed, the long-awaited goal of this walk. The Grosswald Gallo-Roman villa is a little treasure hidden among the trees. It is one of the many villas or farms representative of northeastern Gaul and Germania that criss-crossed the territory of the small town of Bliesbruck. It was the center of a farming operation. Discovered in 1966, the villa was excavated until 1982, then consolidated and restored. The baths were fitted with a protective cover and the underfloor heating room was rebuilt. Take the opportunity to take a picnic break as you wind your way along the path, set against the backdrop of this natural setting combining old stone and vegetation. Part of this circuit joins the Le Grosswald hiking trail (follow the red ring). A 6 km loop for walking through the 90 hectares of oak and beech forests of the Grosswald wood. Enjoy the calm and shade provided by the forest cover.
