France > Grand Est > Meurthe-et-Moselle > 54790 > Faulx > Chemin de la Taye d'Amance

Located opposite the Saulières viewpoint on the heights of Faulx, a village of 1344 inhabitants, this place called "Les Tayes" by analogy with an envelope (or a bag) that recalls the shape of the territory of the commune of 1,720 hectares. There are many different types of trees in the woods, but most of them are beech trees. The beech trees gave the village its name: Fagorum Vallis from Fagus meaning the valley of the beech trees. From this place, one can distinguish the Lower and Upper Faulx and admire the valley of the Mauchère, the name of the stream that runs through the village and leaves it with a magnificent waterfall on the west side. In the past, a railroad linked the old tile factory of Jeandelaincourt to the factory of Pompey. Today it has become a greenway, a walking path. In the vicinity of this viewpoint, in Chavenois, there is the entrance to an 800-meter long tunnel, which connects the mine of Faulx to Lay-Saint-Christophe On this slope, there are two springs that supply the village with drinking water: "la Fontaine des sangliers" and "la source du Merquenard".
