EGLISE SAINT JULIEN

Saint-Julien church dates back to the 14th century, and was renovated in the 16th and 19th centuries, before being restored in the 20th century (1985). It is built on a rectangular plan with low, buttressed walls, a pointed-arched doorway and a triangular bell tower with three rows of openings housing five bells. Inside, the guardian angel chapel on the right features a gilded wooden bust of St. Julien, replacing an earlier silver bust that no longer exists. On the side, a fine 18th-century lectern in carved wood with a triangular base decorated with rosettes and flowers. The 19th-century stalls and panelling above conceal the Gothic niches. Other heritage treasures in the church include a stone baptismal font, Christ on the Cross, four paintings on the walls depicting the Adoration of the Magi, the Adoration of the Virgins, the Resurrection of Christ and the martyrdom of St. Julian.
