EXPOSITION - PROTÉGEONS LES PLANTES POUR NOTRE AVENIR

Date:

A wide-ranging tour of the botanical gardens, an invitation to wander through the collections and discover the original but fundamental theme of plant law. What is a plant? From a botanical or legal point of view, the plant is sometimes a living being, sometimes a commodity, sometimes a source of wonder, sometimes a species to be protected. From forest to landscape, from seed to medicinal molecule, the law governs many aspects of botany. Whether a GMO, a narcotic or the symbolic heritage of a region, the translation of a plant into law reflects our relationship with nature. In the context of climate change and the erosion of biodiversity, ensuring legal protection for species and ecosystems can help us to better safeguard the living world. This exhibition is part of the 2024 event "Do plants have rights? Designed by Katia Blairon, Professor of Public Law at the Université de Lorraine and curator of the exhibition, in collaboration with students from the Master 2 in Energy and Natural Resources Law and various partners. Illustrated by Plantu, Catherine Créhange, Nathalie Absalon and Lorraine Lhermey.
