PAVILLON DES PRINCES

France > Grand Est > Vosges > 88370 > Plombières-les-Bains > Passage des Capucins

This pavilion was built in 1815 during the Restoration. The house will be used as a home for many personalities such as the Duchess of Angouleme, the Duchess of Orleans, future queen of France. It is here that Napoleon 3 will also come down several times. His days are punctuated by a morning reserved for political affairs and the afternoon relaxation at the spa. It is in this pavilion that the meeting between the Emperor and Cavour, Prime Minister of Piedmont-Sardinia in 1858, will take place. During this "secret meeting", Napoleon decided to come to Cavour's aid to push back the Austrians, in exchange for Haute-Savoie, Savoie and Nice.
